The practice opened with three offices in 1998. It has since grown to four offices including Bel Air, Chestertown, Elkton and Havre de Grace, its headquarters. The four locations see an average of 200 patients a day, Taylor estimates. These are primarily ophthalmology patients who are being treated for eye diseases, cataract care, retina issues or infections. Patients are also scheduled for routine eye exams, contact lens fittings or eye injuries.

Added to the mix of professional adult eye care is a thriving pediatric practice. Taylor says it’s important to realize that many imperfections with your child’s vision can be treated if they are caught early. “That’s why we encourage parents to bring their children in for an evaluation as early as age three,” she says. “Don’t rely on the school tests. See for yourself what your child is seeing, and make the commitment to protect his or her eyes with frequent check-ups and care from the Seidenberg Protzko team.”
Taylor also urges adults to get regular eye exams from a professional eye doctor. “The health aspect of vision care is critical because an eye exam can detect a number of issues, from cancer to high blood pressure,” Taylor says. In addition, Seidenberg Protzko Eye Associates can help in eye emergency situations. The practice offers 24-hour emergency eye care service and is affiliated with Upper Chesapeake Medical Center and Harford Memorial Hospital.

Seidenberg Protzko is an accredited teaching facility that offers a residency program for optometry graduate students and a six-month externship rotation for students in four-year programs. Whether an ophthalmologist or an ophthalmic assistant, every member of the Seidenberg Protzko team keeps his or her credentials current by completing credit courses and continuing education seminars.

While the traditional practice of ophthalmology remains the bulk of its business, the practice has diversified its services to include cosmetic surgery and aesthetics. “These disciplines allow our doctors to assist patients in more of their overall health and well-being efforts,” Taylor explains. “If you look good, you feel good, and patients can be confident that the same precise, methodical approach is taken to provide a Botox injection as it is to do laser surgery on your eyes.”

The recent addition of Ultherapy promises to be a great resource for patients. Using ultrasound instead of surgical procedures for a face lift, Ultherapy is the only FDA-approved non-invasive technique to lift skin under the chin, neck, brows and décolletage. It can make your eyes look much younger just by lifting the brow.

In addition to the patient-centered services, Seidenberg Protzko has achieved the Diamond Level in the Circle of Excellence with TSI, a partner with NextGen for its paperless patient care record keeping systems. The practice has moved to electronic patient forms, both for convenience and eco-friendliness.
