CyberSecurity Association of Maryland, Inc. (CAMI), in partnership with PNC Bank and Point3 Security, hosted the inaugural Maryland CyberSecurity Awards Celebration on March 22. The awards, presented to outstanding companies, organizations and individuals in Maryland cyber security, were given to 13 recipients before a crowd of 250 at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore.
Mike Gill, Secretary, Maryland Department of Commerce, thanked the crowd “for what you do. You are the customer! When you ask can we help, I say ‘YES!’” Stacey Smith, Executive Director of CAMI, described her office as a lean, mean machine. “We are the only statewide cyber security organization in the country,” she said.
Best of Regional winners included ZeroFox of Baltimore City and bwtech@UMBC Cyber Incubator of Baltimore County, which has a $100 million economic impact. The Innovator of the Year award (photo) was presented to Terbium Labs, a Federal Hill startup that detects when stolen information is posted online.
The awards themselves were designed by 13 and 15-year-old Aiyanah and N’Dera Muhammad, whose art was chosen from student work submitted to CAMI by Digital Harbor Foundation.
