On February 16, Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz honored Assistant Fire Chief Jennifer Aubert-Utz for her recent promotion to the highest ranking woman in the history of the Baltimore County Fire Department. The BCoFD is nationally progressive in terms of female membership, with women making up 21% of its sworn members, compared to the national average of 4%. “I hope I can inspire other young women to pursue careers in community service,” said Aubert-Utz.
The ceremony was held in the Historic Courthouse in Towson, and was attended by Aubert-Utz’s wife, parents, brother, and colleagues. Also in attendance was the mother of the previous highest-ranking female firefighter Div. Chief A. Danelle England-Dansicker.
