The Albert P. Close Foundation awarded $21,800 in grants to local Harford County Organizations.
The Close Foundation has been busy over the past several weeks awarding grant money to recipients in the county. Recipients of grants this year were; The Samaritan Women, Chesapeake Therapeutic Riding, Center for Educational Opportunity/Alternative Education and PBIS at Alternative Education, Trinise Jones Summer Camp/Inner County Outreach, the Homecoming Project, Addiction Connections Resource, the SAGE Group and Arrow Child & Family Ministries.
Grant monies will be used for a variety of programs that assist at-risk youth in Harford County. Everything from therapeutic riding, technology needs to assist young women with at home college classes and job searches, to inpatient treatment and halfway housing, detoxification, outpatient counseling and medical treatment for pregnant women suffering from substance abuse, to name a few.
“We want there to be a conversation” said Carol Frontera, President of the Close Foundation. “Our hope is that this tree will get attention from young people and parents that pass by, and that they will have a conversation about drug and alcohol addiction.”
