Fedder and Garten Hires Two Attorneys

Fedder and Garten Professional Association, one of Maryland’s most established and respected law firms focusing primarily on corporate and business law, commercial and real estate litigation, real estate, estates and trusts and, announced today that Rita Piel and Jason Engel have joined the firm as attorneys.

“We consider ourselves fortunate to have attracted such exceptional young legal talent such as Rita and Jason,” said Jeffrey Abarbanel, managing partner of Fedder and Garten. “We look forward to having them practice with us for many years, and their addition will allow us to continue to provide outstanding legal services to our clients.”

Piel comes to Fedder and Garten with more than seven years of experience practicing corporate, technology, e-commerce, intellectual property and government contracts law. Previously, she worked as a corporate associate at Miles & Stockbridge P.C. where she assisted in all aspects of the business life cycle for startups to Fortune 500 companies and provided legal counsel to government contractors by assisting with transactional and litigation issues. Piel also drafted and negotiated a variety of vendor, manufacturing and distribution agreements and commercial, software and business contracts.

Engel brings 14 years of experience to the Fedder and Garten litigation team, after engaging in civil litigation at Bonner Kiernan Trebach & Crociata, L.L.P. In his new role, Engel will focus on commercial and real estate litigation. Prior to joining Fedder and Garten, Engel’s practice focused on issues surrounding employment disputes, misappropriation of trade secrets, fraud, consumer protection, construction, breach of contract, products liability, premises liability and medical malpractice within federal and state trial courts, appellate courts and in arbitration tribunals. Engel earned his law degree from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2002.
