University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health has appointed two new members to its board of directors: James M. Harkins, director of Maryland Environmental Service, and Lawrence (Larry) Scanlan, CPA, FHFMA, president of Scanlan and Associates, LLC.
In addition, both will serve on the board of directors of The Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation.
“University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health is fortunate to have Jim Harkins and Larry Scanlan join our board,” said Lyle Sheldon, president and CEO. “They bring a wealth of expertise that will help us continue to be the center of health care excellence in Harford County.”
Harkins is a former Harford County executive and a member of the House of Delegates, where he served on the Appropriations and Judiciary committees. As director of Maryland Environmental Service, he oversees a state agency of 800 employees who are involved in 849 diverse environmental projects in three states.
Scanlan has held executive and financial management leadership positions for more than 40 years. In addition to his consulting and executive coaching firm, Scanlan has served as president of The Hunter Group; managing director of Navigant Consulting; and co-founder and president of Insight Health Partners.
