Harford County Chamber of Commerce held its 21st annual Harford Award on Sept. 18 as the brand-new Water’s Edge Events Center in Belcamp’s inaugural event. This year’s theme was “Businesses in Bloom,” and over 300 business members were in attendance to honor this year’s winners.

Over the years, the Harford Award has evolved to become the most prestigious award in Harford County. This award recognizes businesses that have blossomed because of their vision, focus and determination. To become a recipient, nominated businesses must demonstrate business growth, increased employment, service to the community, unique and creative business strategies, technology innovation, support of public and private education, and working to enhance Harford County’s business climate.

The 2013 winners were: Flavor Cupcakery, Looney’s Pub North, Flowers by Lucy, The Kelly Group, STG, Inc., and Arrow Child and Family Ministries. Each organization represents the best in each of the following respective business categories: Entrepreneur, Retail, Main Street, Service, R&D Technology and Non-Profit.

Pam Klahr, the Chamber’s new President and CEO, said, “What a wonderful way to begin my tour of duty as the new Chamber executive … we had a packed house in a fabulous new facility where we recognized the best of the best in business. Sincere congratulations to all of our recipients!”

The event was sponsored by the Harford County Office of Economic Development, Harford Community College, The Daily Record, Harford County Public Library and BGE. The media production sponsor, Harford Cable Network, will air the program every Friday evening in October at 7 p.m. (Comcast Channel 21, Armstrong Channel 7 and Verizon Fios Channel 21).
