Tracy started TMF in 2000 after leaving her job at MapQuest. Her husband, Justin, also later decided to leave his job at MapQuest to join her. The two cartographers have been making maps ever since.
What sets TMF maps apart from Smartphone and online maps is the human touch. “While we use and appreciate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology every day, we are cartographers, not ‘GIS’ers,’ and not automated mapmakers. We make maps that look great, and people are drawn to great maps,” says Tracy.
“Our customers’ location promotion, business analysis or thematic message makes a bigger impact with a great map verses a sterile, cluttered computer generated map. We are in the spatial information business, an industry dominated by GPS and databases, but we are proud to keep the art in cartography.”
The Map Factory works with businesses, non-profits and government organizations in the I-95 corridor, as well as nationwide. TMF is certified by MDOT as a MBE/DBE business.
